RE: Once again I mostly agree. Utah is not in a position to compete at the
We are in agreement. Nebraska is hurt by not playing Oklahoma. They don't have a rival in the Big1. They had good rivals. The A & M move was because Texas is obnoxious and a bully. Texas is a school that thinks they are better than everyone else, just like Alabama, Ohio State, and Michigan. I am not sure SLC is comparable to Phoenix, Seattle, San Francisco. It certainly is better than Pullman, Tucson, and Corvallis. I think that if Whittingham stays that recruiting can venture into the top 25 level on occasion. BYU made a huge mistake by hiring Crowton rather than Whittingham back in 2001.

BYU's recruiting ceiling can be surpassed if they get into a P-5 conference, or they parlay their network into a "Global Brand."

What I see Utah doing is trying to create distance between them and BYU before the Y can gain any footing. You want the disparity to be huge when you come back to play again. While I think that BYU basketball will be better over the next three years, Utah could surprise me. You have an excellent coach.

BYU football is dependent on what Sitake and company can do. They have brought together some great coaches from different backgrounds. If they can pull together a couple of good seasons, then they could be on the rise. Personally, I think that Utah and BYU can both be good programs, just like Alabama and Auburn are strong. I am not from Utah, but would love to see the games. While Utah has won the last three years of BB games, they were competitive. Even when BYU had Fredette, the games were competitive.

Good luck.
