I'm in grad school and know quite a few guys who are overweight and trying to lose weight as a result of being busy in school and neglecting exercise.
In conversations with these people I find it funny how many of them say they are going to the gym to start lifting so they can get back into shape. Some of these guys have 30-40 pounds or more they need to lose.
I don't know if they are just oblivious to how overweight they actually are and think they need to slim down just a bit or they don't understand that what they need to do is get on a treadmill or bike for an hour everyday so they can burn some calories. I've never found lifting to produce significant weight loss for me compared to cardio but maybe that's just me.
