week 3 - (PS i came up with "P12 champs" idea WAY before BYUSN guys!)
Week 3 – #22 BYU (2-0) vs #14 UCLA (2-0) – Sat, Sept 17, 2016 – LES – Provo, UT – 10:15pm EST – ESPN

The Bruins pummeled the suddenly dysfunctional TAMU team to open the season, then crushed UNLV and now travel to Provo with a tough rivalry game vs Stanford next week. BYU wants revenge…UCLA has to avoid getting distracted.

Rosen has said he remembers “vividly” last year’s game against the Cougars and that he felt like UCLA took them lightly and they won’t do it again. He said Coach Mora’s reminded them what happened last time the Bruins traveled north to Provo (59-0).

This proves to be another epic battle between 2 great QB’s nearly 6 years apart. Taysom nails new favorite target, MLP, for a TD over the middle and JSwag is doing his thing all game long. Rosen and the Bruins however, lived up to their promise and are not over looking BYU. The teams exchange TD’s in the first half and end in a 21-21 tie.

Taysom, who has had a few long-shots fall incomplete, leads BYU down for a quick score on a beautiful 44 yard pass to newbie Talon Shumway in the endzone. The turning point of the game happens on the ensuing drive when Langi and Bernard absolutely destroy Rosen on a deep throw causing the ball to wobble out of his hands. Troy Warner steps up and makes his first INT as a Cougar and returns it to the UCLA 27, barely stepping out of bounds on his way to the endzone. Four plays later Taysom powers into the endzone on a scamper on 3rd and goal from the 3.

UCLA scores one more TD with about 5 minutes left in game to make it close but Taysom is able to orchestrate a long drive, highlighted by a play where he motions Jamaal out of the backfield and hits him on a check down for a big 3rd and long conversion…Jamaal just refused to go down and carries 3 UCLA defenders past the first down marker. BYU takes a knee on UCLA’s 3 yard line to run the clock out and win 35-28.

Langi, afterward creates a local media firestorm when he opens his postgame remarks by saying “it feels good to be Pac-12 champs after week 3!”

Player of the Game – Harvey Langi – 11 tackles, 3 TFL, 1 Sack, 1 QB hurry, 2 PBU’s
