Week 5 – #12 BYU (4-0) vs Toledo (3-0) – Fri, Sept 30, 2016 – LES – Provo, UT – 10:15pm EST – ESPN2

Taysom assures Cougar-faithful that he is ok and good to go, but people are beginning to get nervous about his ability to last an entire season. Upstart Toledo is building off a solid 2015 campaign and is undefeated, having just beat Fresno State. They also had a bye week to prepare for their travel to Provo. However, they’ve never seen a player like Taysom and he serves them a giant serving of “humble pie” as their head coach said after the game.

Taysom looks as healthy as ever and is really slinging it around. He nails Kurtz on a deep 45 yard double move, then hits Jamaal out of the backfield for another TD (15 yards), then hits Trinnaman from 4 yards out…all in the first quarter! The Toledo adjustment is to send less pressure which allows Taysom to tuck and run several times in the 2nd for big gains. One in particular leads to the first “Taysom moment” of 2016 when he stiff arms a LB straight into the grass then splits the safety’s and outruns the entire team 72 yards for a TD.

The second half is more of the same…Toledo players mention the late kick (it was past midnight their time when 2nd half kicked off) and they looked tired. BYU rolls 42-14.
