end of season stuff (CCG's, heisman, etc)
End of season…BYU falls but only to #4 after Conf Champ weekend! BYU is only undefeated team in the land and there are a bunch of one-loss P5 champs. LSU (12-1) wins SEC and is #1. Michigan (12-1) wins B1G and is ranked #2. Stanford is, surprisingly, 12-1 having just throttled UCLA behind an epic McCaffrey performance in the P12 championship game and they jumped from #5 to #3. TCU is 11-1 having only lost recently to a 9-3 Texas team. But the loss, without a chance to win another “big” game in a CCG keeps them out. OU, once again, fails to live up to the hype losing to tOSU at home and TCU. Baylor, given the distractions, is a mess at 8-4. Texas is much improved but still isn’t Texas. TCU wins head-to-head tie breaker with OU and an 8-1 conf record and is declared “champion”. Despite their “champion” distinction. #5 TCU falls to #6 behind #5 Clemson, the now, one-loss, ACC champ. “The bottom line,” CFP CEO Hancock says after, “BYU is the only undefeated team in the country, their strength of schedule and #’s look better than any Big12 or ACC team at this point.” When asked specifically about OU he replies “Since OU has no 13th data point, they are essentially relegated to the same status as BYU who also doesn’t have a conference championship game. It might have made a difference, it might not have but if we get rid of the logos on the resumes BYU’s is better, every time.”

The committee admits that 1-2 were “a lock” with LSU and Michigan and says that “we also felt we could not leave out Stanford given their top-5 SOS and significant play at the end of the season…imagine if OU had played TCU again in a conference championship game and trounced them the way Stanford just beat UCLA?”

Taysom, Fournette, Watson and McCaffrey are 4 Heisman finalists and Fournette gets the nod being the best player from, allegedly, the best team, in the best conference, in one of the closest votes in Heisman history.
