Not a good idea
I have been a few times and the majority of the fans are fine. The main problem is the edgy-ness of people that feel the need to do something crude or offensive. If you can ignore the fans during the game it is ok. I think if you come with a group of guys that understand the rivalry you will be fine. I would not come alone as a couple though. This is not a family friendly environment for BYU fans.

Yea, I know, it is cliche, but mixing they BYU rivalry with alcohol gets bad results at RicePickles. Our biggest issues have been with fans that have been drinking. Utah is not unique here, but the rivalry with BYU brings out the crazy when coupled with alcohol. I suspect it has everything to do with Church issues coming out when inhibitions are diminished. When exiting one time, a smallish guy was clearly one of these. His wife was pleading with him to go to the car, pulling his arm and stuff. He was wandering around looking for BYU fans after the game. In this case, it was a little pitiful because he was not very big and almost anyone in our group would have him out in 2 seconds. We just moved on but he really wanted something. His poor wife.

Another more tame experience was with my son. Some Yewts just came up to us to simply empty their water bottles on us. No other reason at all. My 9 year old son and I were there for a good afternoon.. and they thought it was funny. I just shook my head at them and they grabbed more, but I just stood there and laughed at how pitiful they looked. If I ever saw a BYU fan do that I would grab the water out of their hands and tell them to grow up. I think the other Yewts just wanted to see if I would do anything. I just laughed and moved on as they continued to laugh and try and hit me with water as we walked away.

It would be nice if fans would bring a go-pro. That would be interesting to say the least. I don't have the energy for all the drama anymore. The vitriol in some fans is palpable.

It is definitely not a family environment when BYU comes to town.
