Anyone that says it is better to stand on the sidelines to learn a new offense
as opposed to actually being in the game and getting snaps just doesn't know sports. You get better and better understand the game/offense by DOING it - not by watching it. Sure, there is some benefit to sitting and watching from the sidelines, about as much as watching film will give you.

Let's just stop the attempts to convince ourselves it is best for Tanner to be on the sidelines to prepare him for next year; It would be better for him to be taking game snaps, period.
