Roko's comparison is very good. Steve Cleveland never coached just like Gregg Marshall. Cleveland never made it past the first round of the NCCA Tournament for one. His defenses did not swarm like Marshall's for two. That comparison is not close.
Rose has done a great job at BYU in comparison to his predecessors. His offensive scheme and successes have enabled him to recruit some excellent players during the past several years. He simply needs to surround himself with proven assistant coaches who consistently year over year draw the most from the players both on offense and especially on defense. Whether any of the current assistants satisfy or could satisfy this need is debatable. Coach up those who can and help the others find another coaching position or career.
The current players can be taught and held accountable to play team offense and a swarming defense. I don't buy the "inexperienced" excuses. Inexperienced or not, no way should this year's UVU or San Diego teams ever score 114 and 88 points on BYU.
