So based on that distribution then...
Rose is 'quite good', i.e. upper half of the top 125 in the country (top 100 b-ball HCs in the world excluding the NBA). 11 20 win seasons in his 11 seasons. 8 NCAA tournament bids. Only 4 wins and one Sweet Sixteen in that time. Of course, BYU has only had 1 other Sweet Sixteen in its history.

Tough suspension there at the end of that Sweet Sixteen team. Cost them two spots in their seeding and they played the whole tournament without one of the only two guys that spent any time on an NBA roster. Maybe a Final Four team otherwise. Definitely top-5 team in the country before that suspension.

Of those good or great head coaches how many are LDS? I wonder how many of their top two assistants are LDS. I wonder how many of the 'great' JC coaches are LDS.

Rose has recruited the best class in BYU history. Almost all of them have gone on or are still on LDS missions. It'll be interesting to see how good this team is after a year together.

I'd like the team to play better defense. Shot selection given the talents of Mika & Childs sometimes makes me wonder. I get the concerns about big man development (although Mika's development trend has been impressive). However, looking at any objective D1 measure, BYU's history, the LDS demographics among the good/great programs, conference affiliation, etc I feel quite fortunate that BYU hired and still has Dave Rose.
