Lack of vertical passing or a TE game didn't help either.

Since BYU rarely went deep or even mid range it gave great leverage to the defense to have the safeties and LBs hover close to the line. LBs can more easily run delayed blitzes without getting burned or having to worry about a TE slipping out for a pass.

The BYU passing games was truly horrid from an Xs and Os standpoint this year. It was just too easy to defend.

OL was bad in pass pro mostly. Generally solid in run blocking.
