Utah o-line vs BYU d-line
Utah loses 4 starters on the o-line. This is a big loss for them and leaves a ton of question marks for them. The only returning starter is Uhatafe at right guard (played in 39 games, started 25). He is undoubtedly the anchor of that o-line going forward. Jackson Barton (played in six games started two, but he was a 4* recruit with a high ceiling), Paulo (played one down as a lineman last year), Falemaka (played two games), Capra (redshirt freshman, 3* recruit). So, as you can see, outside of Uhatafe, there is very little experience on that o-line.

BYU d-line: They lost some huge senior leadership at this position. The projected starters right now are fairly young, but they are getting some big time transfers and recruits coming in to bolster up the position. Kaumatule (6 tackles, 2.5 sacks last year), Mo'unga (Big Mo had 14 tackles last year and had a big spring camp), Tausinga (16 tackles, 2 batted down passes), Pili (8 tackles, 5 TFL, 2.5 sacks). Depending on academics, BYU could possibly get Takitaki and Laulile back this fall. That's yet to be seen until Spring semester starts.

Let's just assume they don't make it back and we don't get any production from the transfers and the incoming guys. Based just off of this list, I'd say it's a wash. Which is probably the first time in years that we could say that. Having a new offensive coordinator is also going to make it difficult for the Utah o-line to come out of the gates firing on all cylinders. They are going to have to learn all new blocking schemes. Getting Utah early is to our advantage here.
