But it's not cut and dry. If I were a coach, I would hope for the best, prepare the worst. People have this medical redshirt approved all the time. As I mentioned before, the NCAA has requirements. He fits them. The medical hardship requirements don't mention anything about having a previous redshirt. Ken Scott got 2 extra years for medical RS. Every case is different and they treat it as such. Personally I think this is any easy case to apply for Fitts but you never be 100% sure with the NCAA
