It's not that you "can't" learn it, it's more than you likely won't - because
Scouting is a program that provides opportunities for young men to be in places and circumstances they ordinarily would not be. Your question, however, is like asking what a young man can learn in his quorum class that he cannot learn without it. For one, shared experiences with like-minded young men. We could keep our sons home from church and teach them the gospel ourselves, like a kind of home school, I guess if that is what we want. But, that is not the Lord's proscribed way.

If the Lord has adopted Scouting as a program for our young men, why would we fight against it if our desire is to raise our sons to Him? I am not saying the BSA is not without its warts; however, until the Lord provides another way, I think choosing to disassociate with Scouting in favor of some other way robs us of blessings.

I don't feel I need to outline what Scouting has to offer young men point by point in response to your inquiry. For me, just knowing it is the program the Lord designed for our sons to follow was enough.
