mainly because I don't think he has the size or skills to get his shot off...and even when he does get his shot off he shoots less than 40% from the field for chaminade. The way i see it...if a guy is one of the best 3 point shooters in the country and he can get his shot off with a high shooting percentage (40+%)...he's typically worth a scholarship (unless you already have a bunch of those guys). That doesn't mean he will be a starter---it may be that he plays sparingly...but you still want to have that option off of the bench.
my Nephew is a pretty good example of this. He couldn't defend to save his life, but he was a phenomenal shooter. I helped coach his high school team and even though he wasn't a starter and many games didn't see the court----he still had 3 games where he scored 25+ as a senior. If there was an opposing player that didn't need to be guarded we would put him in. Many college teams will have 1 or 2 guys in their rotation that are almost a zero threat on offense...
I don't think Knell is that bad on D, so forgive me for the hyperbole..
