You are right of course, but wasn't Dantley a phenomenal shooter in high school? IIRC he averaged > 30pt. > 40% from 3,
90% free throw.
i'm totally on board with Knell and your basic point that a great shooter who can get it done at BYU is worthy of a scholarship even if he plays little defense. But he still has to prove he can get the good shot off at that level.
Dantley couldn't and that was my point. No denying Walker proved to be among the most prolific and accurate shooters in the nation when going against high school teams.
But i would take the best offensive player in the nation ahead of the best defender any day. Great offense beats great defense in this game.
i'd prefer both if we can get it, and it is so necessary if we expect to be a top 25 team.
