even remotely looked like we had any real interest in beating utah during the entirety of the game.

I recap this virtually every year, because it just gets more ridiculous each time. Here are the BYU wins since the 1996 beat down, which was, yes, the last time that BYU actually came out and asserted themselves the whole time. NINETEEN NINETY SIX!!!

1998: BYU wins by a Kaneshiro doink.
2000: BYU wins with last drive hail mary to get LaVell his last win
2001: BYU is in a coma all game, only to wake up in bed in a sweat in the last 3 minutes and act like we care.
2006: BYU starts off hot in Q1, falls into aforementioned coma for next 2.9 quarters, and then has one drive and miracle play to win
2007: BYU requires yet another miracle play on 4th and 18. To be fair, Collie was called for a bogus OPI that waived a TD.
2009: BYU starts off well (as original post called out) and then again falls into coma and requires OT to eek it out.

That's it. There it is. Now, I am quick to point out there are many of the games that Utah won that could have bounced BYU's way as well, so it shouldn't be mistaken that Utah just ran away with every win. But, it is getting pathetic and annoying that BYU just refuses to play a solid game against Utah. At best, over the last TWENTY YEARS, we have only seen at best, a couple quarters of good play, let a lone a full 4.

In 1996, I had just turned 11 the last time BYU solidly beat Utah. I am now turning 32 this year. My life by and large has only been characterized by BYU, when they have won, BARELY doing it by some last minute miracle.

THIS MUST STOP. PLEASE. I AM BEGGING BYU. PLEASE. PLEASE END THIS RIDICULOUSNESS. IT MUST END.
