It's easy to look at past OC hires and philosophies and assume much of the same
I have digested every Troy Taylor interview, article and morsel I can find. I will tell you this - he is no Christensen. He is no Chow or Erickson. He is no ARod, Schram, or BJ.
I am not foolish enough to tell you that this guy is a slam dunk and Utah is going to become the next Baylor.
But I don't think it's fair to judge him on the performances of others before him. He has a brilliant offensive mind, he has a long track record of developing QBs, he simplifies the spread and runs it differently than any coach we have had, and he claims he has zero restrictions from Whit.
How will this type of system jive with Utah's defensive philosophy? This is the point where I have no clue. But I think you see a different Troy Williams this year statistically and there is no way the play calling can be worse.
BYU getting Utah early probably helps BYU as I can only assume it takes a while to get everything down in terms of timing. Should be a very interesting game.
