The key here is what side your wife takes. Once you tell us that,
We can make more meaningful suggestions. If they are so insensitive or clueless as to make it unpleasant while your there, pull the FIL aside and tell him man to man you dont need that crap. If he's a decent guy, they'll learn to refrain, if he's not, just find service opportunities to replace the time you'd be around them...thats a productive passive aggressive way of telling them you'd rather be anywhere but with them.
