Here's something that bugs me BIG time about Kalani
He throws the offense under the bus consistently.

Never mind the fact that we are using two freshman RMs who just got here before the season started as our 1st and 2nd string QBs.

Never mind that we are using walk-ons in the backfield (El-Bakri and KJ Hall).

Never mind that we returned only 21% of our receptions from last year and 21% of our receiving yards from last year.

He mentions that the defense is always on the field. Well, part of that is the defense can't get off the stinkin' field.

BYU is 51st in S&P+ defense, which focuses on the opposing offense's play success rate. But, they are 90th in FEI, which focuses on opposing drives. We are 97th at passing S&P+ and 91st at S&P+ on passing downs. What does that mean? We are great at limiting big plays but when it comes to getting stops when the offense has 2nd and long or 3rd and long. Nothing.

So, opponents drive the length of the field on us. As a result, we are one of the worst teams in average starting field position for our offense (119th in the country). Part of that is that we're also 93rd in kickoff return efficiency and 120th in punt return efficiency.

BYU is 122nd in the country in havoc rate. That measures TFLs, passes defensed and forced fumbles divided by total plays.

So, yeah, your offense is going to suck when you have very little experience in pass catchers, QBs that are hurt and we're down to 3rd and 4th stringers who were both expected to redshirt and your defense can't get off the stinkin' field or make big plays and your special teams return units suck. Everything works together, if the offense can't get easy starting field position, then you're not going to score. Simple as that.

So, Kalani the basic fan who only knows the score, will say the offense SUCKS! Don't jump on the bandwagon. You should know better. You should know there's a LOT more to it than that. Call out your defense and your special teams units for sucking too. Don't say, "We only gave up 16 points. Our defense did their job." No, they didn't. They didn't create big plays. Very few TFLs. Only 1 forced fumble. No INTS. They didn't give up many explosive plays but they sucked again on passing downs. UMASS had 22 plays where they gained at least 7 yards. Out of 68. That's 32%.

Just once, say, our offense is struggling and needs help and they're not getting any at all from the other two units.
