better students or smarter than the USC, Oregon or Utah Polys. In fact, I would say that they come from the same mold and background for the most part and have a basically equivalent academic profile (there are exceptions although I've been around many BYU athletes who were not good students). In general, the kids that choose to go to those P5 schools aren't going there because they can't get into BYU academically. They are going there because it will be a better football experience for them especially if their goal is to go the NFL. I am positive that many of the "real athletes" and Polys that we get are on par in the classroom with their counterparts at those other P5 schools. They choose to come to BYU because of family ties or because they heavily weight the "BYU experience" in their decision process. Unfortunately, the BYU experience doesn't mean much if our football program is in the gutter.
