A lot of the NBA offense now (especially in crunch time) is isolation. Just get the other team's weakest defender to switch onto our best player and then play one-on-one while everybody else stands around the 3 point line. It works if you have great Iso players, if not it's a disaster.
I saw my old Jr. High coach recently. I asked him how it's going and he said he doesn't coach anymore. He said kids nowadays don't know how to run plays. The only thing they know how to do is ball screens, isolation and standing around the 3 point line (mostly in the corner). He said he'd draw up plays in practice and the kids could never execute or understand the play. Sadly, the way we teach basketball has failed kids. We're prioritizing winning over fundamentals and skill development at such a young age that many of those fundamentals aren't getting taught. Simple things like executing a drawn-up play.
