Basically, to qualify for the credit the car has to be built in North America and the battery components have to be sourced from the US or a country with which we have a free trade agreement (which eliminates China). So cars built in Japan and Korea (many Lexus, Infinity, Toyota, Subaru, Honda, Kia, Hyundai, etc. models) do not qualify for the sales credit, but you can still get the credit if you lease the car.
