Who cares if someone thinks I am a weakling because my employer gives me 12 weeks paternity leave. I'm not working to show how tough I am. I am working to provide for my family. Paternity leave is a direct support to that goal.
Many of us belong to a collective society/belief system that purports to be very pro family. There is no Proclamation on Toughness. If we want to claim to be pro family, why would we ever belittle changes in our workplace that support the family. Some of you would come unglued if your employer forced you to undergo some sort of diversity or LGBT training because it "attacks" The Family. That, my friends, is soft. Yet when an actual measure to support the family comes along, we belittle it?
