In Europe it’s something like 6 months for paternity, 12 months for maternity.
We get a few things absolutely wrong as US employers and this is one of them.
Unless you’re a titan of industry, when our careers end nobody is going to remember us and nobody is going to care about the sacrifices we made in our careers, but our spouses and children will.
