My problem with it is that our company (and I suspect many companies) simply expects everyone to just take up the slack while someone is on leave. Ten years ago when we had six weeks for women and three for men it was manageable. Now it's 12 weeks for women and men (can't discriminate!). One of the managers who report to me went on paternity last year. None of his people could really do his job so it was me, basically doing two jobs, working 60-70 hours a week, for three months. My boss just kind of shrugged when I voiced my concerns.
