The younger generation is a whole lot more aware of the FIRE movement
and seems generally speaking a lot more conservative. The big guru in this area is a local ER doc (white coat investor) is a boggle head type (index funds, etc) so he has a lot of influence. There’s a very significant generation gap with that.
In general everyone I know makes >300k (pcps now, hospitalists, ect).
Most specialists are >500k
The higher end guys (ortho, surgical subspecialists, GI, cardiology, some heme/onc are >700-800
Surgeons owning their own facilities in the 1-1.5 range.
Some Academics and some pediatricians the low end outliers below 2
