There are kids that right now choose to go to Oregon State or Arizona or Arizona State instead of Utah and state that the reason is that they wanted to play in the PAC10.
I think Utah's recruiting will improve. Will it be to the level of USC or UCLA? Probably not.
Could it be on par with Oregon? More likely, but I'd suspect it might be just a notch below.
I do think that Utah would have a bit of sway with west coast/Utah LDS kids that they do not currently have. Do the SLC kids that went to PAC10 schools keep doing that? Is Oregon really all that much more attractive to a West Coast/Utah LDS kid than the U. which is in the Mormon Vatican and has a coaching staff loaded with LDS coaches and a team that has a lot of LDS kids playing for it?
I think Utah will see improved recruiting.
However, I do wonder what happens to Texas. Texas has been pretty good to Utah in the past, in spite of last recruiting season's foibles. I think going to the PAC10 and not having a TCU presence might hamper that a bit.
It's all conjecture. I'll admit it on my part, but I do believe what I say about the separation of the haves and have nots. So, in that sense, I don't care. I think it's about survival at the highest level and I want Utah to survive.
