BYU is working very hard to reduce it's yearly athletic dept expenses. When the IPF and Student Athlete buiding were constructed, BYU had to also fund an endowment that would pay for the maintenence and yearly expenses. BYU is also following the Stanford model of endowing every athletic scholarship. When BYU gets to that point, the biggest expense every year will just be travel expenses.
