how good they really have been over the past 8 years. The problem is how good are they going to be this coming year. If Wynn struggles like he did in the 2nd half of last year it could be all up to your defense. Personally I don't think the "can they do it every week" argument holds water. I believe you're either good enough to beat those teams or you're not. Any team moving over to the PAC from the MWC could incur a couple more losses than they would have had otherwise, but that team will still have a good record, and still comptete for a conference title. You can't convince me that the '04 Ute team or '06 BYU team would not have been right in the PAC 10 title chase if they had been part of that league at the time.
