I definitely think that most people will say that Pac12 Utah's dropping out of the rankings and never going to BCS Bowl games anymore is proof that non-AQ teams couldn't cut it in BCS conferences and therefore don't belong. It really makes you wonder though, in Utah's serendipitous season of 2008 with all the many lucky bounces, flukey wins, missed gimme FG's, etc how they would have fared playing an entire season in a tough BCS conference.

It's one thing to have a month to gear up for an opponent who is in the pit of despair for having blown their chance at a National Title and is looking at the Sugar Bowl as a consolation prize, but it's another to go undefeated in a BCS conference and then face an opponent that isn't overlooking you and instead is eager to play you in the BCS Bowl.

The flipside is, this would also further cement in the minds of naysayers that Utah's 2004 and 2008 seasons are questionable as well.
