                                                     Viewership Adults 18-49
Show Net Time (million, Live+SD) rating (Live+SD)
COLLEGE FOOTBALL PRIME L ESPN 10:20 PM 2.188 0.9

Notice that the rating was only a .9 but viewership was about 2.2 million.

Now take a look at BYU's "ratings" from last year: http://www.cougarboard.com/board/message.html?id=7878462

There are other detailed stats in other posts in that thread as well. BYU had 4 ratings over that last year and 1 equal to that. But the exact same rating doesn't necessarily equal the same 2.2 million viewers....

Note that Viewership (number of people) is different than the 18-49 rating which is almost all anyone usually refers to. Typically a 1 rating is actually worth more than a million viewers per rating (see links below for details). But then often the 18-49 rating doesn't even translate to total number of homes overall...Just look at the RNC at 10PM on Fox News on the top link only a 1.5 rating but over 9 million viewers while the prime time football game had a 1.8 with just over 4 million viewers.
