You realize the are on the hook for like 100 M a year or something like that
in the SLC expansion right? You don't invest in something like that and then start flying out of po-dunk Provo.

How many phases to the project are there?

If this leads to flights between Provo and Vegas, I'm a fan.

Is there enough land to become a major airport?

Plenty of land.

There is a lot of land to expand the airport. Here is an image to show.

They would need more runway space

3/13/19 2:15pm
I think they can expand to 9500' at 8600 currently

Plenty of land... $4.3M won’t get it anywhere close to major though.

$4.3 is just the county portion of funding.

Destined to be a regional, not a major one. Won't compete with SLC.

Exactly. I dont think it would ever more than a regional Airport. Most of my

You think Delta is interested in Provo? It's a regional airport within a 50

True, but I could see a Minneapolis flight to Provo.

I think you are overestimating what a regional airport is,

Thanks for the explanation. It may be mostly wishful thinking for me.

PVU to MSP or DTW wont happen. Maybe you can start flying United through DEN

Absolutely. They have a valley full of loyal customers
Flyski
3/13/19 2:50pm
Their model is to fly you to a hub. They don't have many direct flights from
mudpupper
3/13/19 2:53pm
That's why my thought was a flight from Minneapolis or Detroit to Provo.

If they did, they would most likely fly to LAX or SEA. Both of which are

*The have a monopoly on a valley full of customers* (non-stop)

I think they absolutely would be. If they don’t someone else will and steal

Yeah, I don't think Delta is too concerned about PVU.

I doubt it. Delta could easily price out mainline competition that tried Provo.

It's tough to build mainline routes at a regional airport near a major hub
