As long as you don't stray off the major streets you will be fine.
If you get off of Poplar, Park, Walnut Grove, Union, or the interstates you can end up in a seedy part of town in no time flat. It is surprising, you can be driving though a pretty nice neighborhood and in a matter of a couple of blocks you are locking your doors and contemplating running redlights.
