I wouldn't say you're post is negative, but it is severely flawed and incomplete.
It's fine to say who we've missed because they chose to go elsewhere. But if they didn't have offers or were enrolled and left or didn't qualify out of high school so had to go JC, they shouldn't be on here as a whiff because it's BYU
For Starters
Andy Phillips- would have come with an offer
Christian Folau- Enrolled; never made an impact; transferred out
Star- Committed; didn't qualify
Francis Bernard-Contributor; transfer
Nephi Sewell- Not offered out of Desert Hills
I could put 10-20 more on here, but really your list should be
Here are the kids who big-timed BYU and would have no matter what: Penei and Noah Sewell, Porter Gustin
Here are the kids who chose Stanford because it's Stanford: Dallas Lloyd, Simi Fehoko types
Kids that wouldn't have gone to BYU because they didn't want BYU or the coach: Zane Beadles, Hunter Dimmick
Lastly, what actually matters: Here are the kids that would have gone to BYU 20 years ago that didn't now.
This is where the issue lies. There are a few kids listed that we would get if 2017 didn't happen. Losing always makes things worse. There are a few that wanted a bigger conference and a few especially on the defensive side of the ball that know Kyle will develop them.
This is where this list actually holds some water. Kids who want the NFL need a coach that can develop them. Very few DL/OL are ready to play in the NFL right out of high school and so need a program that can develop them. It's not because BYU is BYU. It's because it wasn't a huge priority for the previous staff and the current staff just isn't very good at it in most of the positions.
