But at that point in time their future was very uncertain. We could have joined and TX, OU, OSU, and others might have bolted soon after leaving us in a version of the MWC but with worse travel.

So we overplayed our hand and lost. We should have just taken whatever deal it took to get in and planned on using a lawsuit as our backup plan if the big names bolted. But rather than risk it we played our hand wrong and lost.

Here’s hoping endorsing players can help us land better players given our passionate, well capitalized alumni base. Then tear off some good years in advance of realignment and have a second term of Trump mellow out the culture wars a bit (or even win culture wars for Christians) so we slip in.
