BYU’s inability to get itself into a P5 conference, but the more I’ve considered the multiple influences and dynamics that go into a decision of that magnitude, it’s clear that Tom Holmoe (or any AD for that matter) can only do so much. Other dominos have to fall. The BYU admin (other than Tom) have to be willing to do what it takes (including talking risks). The P5 leagues we want to join need to be aligned with us as well, and want us. It’s not nearly as simple as one AD’s efforts to get us inti a P5 league. Tom Holmoe badly wants BYU to be in a P5 league...he’s made that abundantly clear numerous times.
