In reality, the exact opposite is probably about to happen.
If SCOTUS rules against the NCAA on the Alston case, athletic budgets are going to explode like nothing we've ever seen before.

Maybe an expanded playoff is really coming.

It will be challenging. Powers that be don't want a large playoff

They need more money; plus Clemson/Bama/OSU on repeat is completely boring

Exactly. Never fool yourself that this is for more inclusion. They are only

This is the real answer. Until they include a team from every

The "fairest" system would be 16 teams w/ 10 conference champs and 6 at-large.

It will just end up a majority P5 tournament with maybe 1 or 2 G5 sprinkled in for "inclusion"

Probably should be. 12-16 at least gives smaller schools a chance at it though. Why I prefer 16 with no byes.

I just think it would be cool to see a small school make a run, like they do in march madness

I doubt a single non-P5 will be included

It "should" include all 10 confernce champs, but my guess is you are probably

We need to get to at least 12 for me to feel like BYU has a shot to be included

I wouldn't get your hopes up. It's going to be the P5 + ND that reaps the benefits
letthewookieewin

Yep, they just want more P5 spots

At 12, I feel like they would have to include a couple of G5 teams. I don't have
mwcoug

They will include *one* G5 auto-bid just to avoid legal issues, plus all P5 champs and 6 at-large bids

The article does a great job of why it’s more likely the CFB jumps to 12+ teams.
TempeCoug

We need to be in the Big 12 for that to happen
2FarGone
4/28/21 9:03am
They could throw the G5 a bone and include at least one champ (like NY6 now).
rggee
4/28/21 9:25am
More likely they require all P5s to have at least 12 teams and two divisions
2FarGone

No one dictate to conferences how many teams they should have.

Laughable to hear P5 folks talk about the 'unintended consequences' of the CFP, which were obvious to everybody else

Can't wait until we have a dream season and come in at 13 in the final rankings!
