Once Utah left, that hope caved in. The dominoes ensued.
It was an effective move by the Pac-12 to deflate the rising MWC. The Big XII added a great football program and a wealthy TX school in TCU.
Smart moves.
Once in the tougher MWC, like BYU was, Boise has been fantastic but not elite. They needed the weaker WAC to be dominant.
At one time BYU, Utah, TCU, BSU were the elite of the non BCS. With TCU and BSU passing us both up.
Now I think Utah is the only one that has continued an upward trajectory and emerged as the most legitimate P5 of the group.
I think BYU would be a solid P5. Stronger than BSU, IMO. But neither would be dominant. You can see that in the MWC performance and games vs. P5 data.
