They could get much more done in a shorter period of time, especially if it were more one on one type of teaching, which you can get in homeschool.
Not saying that is the case here, but I know of cases where kids get that kind of treatment.
Any parent who takes homeschooling seriously could do a much better job in far less time.
I know of cases where they did really well homeschooling, and others where it seems it was lacking.
I think the two biggest selling points for school is learning to be somewhere every day at a certain time and for a certain time, because showing up is a big part of life. Second, interaction with other kids and people outside of your own home. Just being exposed to people of different races, cultures (to some degree), religions, backgrounds, etc, and even if it’s not drastic.
