mean it is a great comparison. Steph and (your example) Stockton while both point guards are very different players. The NBA today has become positionless basketball. You have bigs and smalls and they can all do a variety of things. We can throw them in the same list together and I am fine with that, but it is harder to judge Stockton vs. Steph than it is to judge Kobe vs. Steph. That was my point.
To compare Steph against "pure" point guards is hard because he doesn't play the same. I agree with your take that it is easier to compare him to Roy, Bryant, A.I, etc. I think we are saying the same things we just are defining the point a bit differently.
So lets compare Steph and some of the players you mentioned just for the fun of it.
Steph vs. Stockton- Probably Stockton (by the way I did not grow up a Jazz fan)
Steph vs. AI- Steph
Steph vs. Kobe- Kobe
Steph vs. Wade- Steph
Just the way I see them as bball players. Curious what your thoughts are.
