OR, it is possible that with the transition to a
new recruiting coordinator, the coaching staff wrapping up a VERY good recruiting class, and the fact that mistakes are made at times and things can fall through the cracks, that BYU DID mishandle this situation? Could it be that the staff isn't perfect and DOES makes mistakes from time to time?

Porter is a good kid with a lot of options. BYU did not handle this the way they should have but that happens sometimes. There is still a chance for BYU to throw it's hat into the ring in a big way. It is now up to them.

As far as the family feeling jilted? Of course they do, and most all of us would too. Kid grows up a BYU fan, wants to play there, really, truly wants an offer (and YES that is true that Porter would have committed IF BYU would have offered last December), then gets 20 plus offers from the top schools in the country...I am sure the family is wondering what is going on. And, BYU did not offer due to behavior or personal issues. BYU did not offer because they had over committed to LB's and didn't feel, AT THE TIME, that they could afford to find a scholly for Porter. I think their tune has changed a bit now and they are realizing that maybe they should have paid more attention to Porter before.

Oh well, live and learn. Not too many times a kid playing in Salem, Utah has offers from FSU, Oregon, USC and the like. Maybe BYU didn't think he was THAT good. Hope they change their mind and at a minimum, try their best to bring Porter into the BYU fold! Egos, mistakes and hurt feelings aside, this kid needs to be wearing BYU blue and if he is as good as everyone thinks, will get great publicity (like KVN) by playing on national tv a lot against top opponents. Here's hopin!

And lastly, IF Porter changes his mind and seriously considers playing at BYU again, we need to remember that sometimes family members and recruits themselves read CB. We don't want to turn them off even more to BYU. Try to refrain from questioning his character, etc. It doesn't do anyone any good.
