the root problem was the implementation of the "balance model" imo
and to implement and be allowed to implement that philosophy is best described at the very root, as pure and simple arrogance...
You are right there are very successful arrogant coaches...
but at BYU, you combine an arrogant person (bronco) with an arrogant philosophy (bronco's balance model) that undermines important football traits like sacrifice and discipline, you have the current and dire state we are in now....
We will never be an elite football team until we tank the current measurement for success:
1) win more than you lose
2) compete at a high level
3) do 1 and 2 without compromising the Bronco balance model
