Why put up that sign? Who are you talking to when you put up that sign? It isn't smack to Arizona. They've been there for years. Is Arizona supposed to be impressed by Utah's conference affiliation for some reason?

It's a little odd to see all the conference love. Recently, Indiana was forced to put the B1G logo on their basketball court, which fans were up in arms about. They have Indiana pride, not B1G pride. They are Indiana, not B1G.

To me, the fans that bank on their conference for validation can't find enough validation in the school itself. They have to ride the coattails of others to elevate themselves. Just look at the recruiting pitch recently for Utah programs - "look at who you'll get to play!" trumps "look at what you get to play for!" The funny thing is that I can understand the excitement early on, but Utah has been in the conference for almost 5 years now. They actually have a pretty decent history in basketball and they're ranked in the Top 15. You'd think the fans wouldn't feel the need to bring out conference pride in this situation. At some point, you relinquish or cheapen your school pride when you act like you haven't been there before.

BTW, I guarantee you the conference love would not be that strong if BYU were invited to the Big 12 or PAC 12. What in the last few years tells you that BYU fans aren't all about BYU, and nobody else?
