I've read reviews, but would like a person to tell me about using it on a lap.

The reviews address this, and are mostly positive. But the kick-stand setup with the hinge-less keyboard always makes me wonder how one would work on your lap.

That is my irrational hang-up with them.

Don't buy a Surface Pro 3; the Surface Pro 4 will be out this summer. Buy it.

I have SP1 and love it. Considered Yoga. Tablet use pushed me over to Surface.
