Actually - I dont think it would have made much difference.
Many of the things in this story were know to some degree. We knew his parents were getting a divorce. We knew he had a tough time fitting in with the older players (thanks team leaders), We knew his parents were OCD about his recruiting and career.
Some people are relentless in their attacks against players, coaches, other fans and BYU in general. They think that the price of their tickets or donation to the Cougar Club gives them the freedom to say whatever they want - and they do. And why do they do it - because a player didn't have the game they thought he should have. Or the coaches record isn't 12-0. So they throw all common courtesy to the wind and flame away without a single thought about how it might affect the players, coaches and family members who do, in fact read CB.
