Comparing the first 10 years of Bronco and Lavell is horrible...
My reasoning for comparison between Lavell and Bronco is to point out that Bronco isn't anywhere near as bad as the "fire Bronco" crowd would like you to believe. Do I believe Bronco is perfect? Nope, not even close. Was Lavell Perfect? Nope not even close. As I compare the two coaches I honestly don't think the "Fire Bronco" crowd would be happy with Lavell. I don't compare the two to elevate Bronco, or to deflate Lavell, I compare them to show that Bronco is a good coach, and it really is ok to be happy to have him as our coach. I understand in this day and age that "FIRE THE BUM" is of course the first thing to do, but it rarely improves the situation, and BYU has the opportunity to fall a lot further than it has to improve.

That said, the comparison between the first 10 years of Lavell and Bronco is absolutely a horrible comparison. Lavell accomplished a great deal in that first 10 years and put BYU on the map. He had horrible schedules, but he won, and had some of the greatest teams BYU has ever had during those 10 years. Comparing Lavells last 10 years to Bronco's 10 years is a more fair comparison in my opinion based on the fan expectations, along with increased scrutiny by media and fans. I don't do so to cherry pick or make Lavell look worse. But if you deny there was a difference between BYU of the 70's-80's and the BYU of the 90's as far as honor code enforcement, media scrutiny, and fan scrutiny, you are crazy. Once again Bronco compares very well in that time frame.

There are so many people on this board who think BYU should win by just showing up at the stadium and losses should never happen just because we are BYU. It doesn't matter if all of the major play-makers / leaders on the team are injured and unable to play. BYU should win regardless of any extenuating circumstances. After all, they are BYU. BYU has never been that team that could just show up and win.
