Yea...the information superhighway, particularly the internet was fully formed..
when Lavell was around.
Lavell got exposed to a hostile media environment about 12 times a year...the KSL post game show...and he got testy a number of times as those of us who listened to it can tell you. In today's age him getting testy would have been a 24/7 blast from Utah media...and yes...the many, many haters he would have on this board.
Lavell is a great man. He was a great man then, and he would be a great man if he were younger and coaching today. But anyone that thinks Lavell wouldn't be getting excoriated for things like the 65-14 Holiday Bowl, the only loss in what would have been a perfect season to UTEP...when it was the only game they won all year...losing three in a row to Utah...and yes, even his testy post game interviews is simply myopic.
