I'd call the doc and go with their advice. Seems like the wire would have the potential to cause some serious./semi-serious issues.

Could get stuck inside somewhere, cause bleeding or some such thing. The wire is likely going to rust too. Not sure what ill-effects may arise from that.

Play it safe, go to the doc.
