RE: You follow the team closely enough to know that
There's a drop off, which they've been working on fixing but takes a long time to materialize because of missions, but a big issue right now is youth and injuries. In the past it was a big issue and even though they're fixing it, you've still just got a few where it really hurts because BYU can't get away with injuries to certain spots yet.

Right now, part of what you call a lack of talent really isn't, it's that a lot of the talent right now is hurt or young, so you see deeper into the depth chart where the lack of talent really is. It makes things appear to be really bad around the 2 deep, when really the problem is deeper, but starts to surface because of inexperience or injuries. Plenty of P5 teams aren't THAT deep either. Plenty of teams would start struggling in areas having to force 3rd or 4th string and/or youth on the field.

I agree that depth was always an issue. Jake Kuresa brought it up and nailed it perfectly... That BYU plays like their recruiting classes. They are great at the top but it's that bottom 2/3's or so of the class that was meh. They're fixing that IMO but it takes a while to be seen. Have to start phasing all of that lower talent out and in with the new. #missionprobs

Not to mention his specific point is idiotic, basing said talent level on recruiting rankings. If he really believes that logic, Utah must not be so hot either because they have a ton of those guys as well. His own freakin homer team proves him wrong. He's a lazy idiot.
