It's the FEAR of lawsuits that's driving up costs
While an orthopedic Dr knows how to diagnose a Sprain VS a fracture the patient ALWAYS gets an Xray (minimum!!) to rule out a fracture. Sometimes this also leads to unnecessary MRIs as well.
I am sure it is way worse with cases that could be confused with a cancer case.
The amount of diagnostic studies that take place to cover the Dr is crazy, but they don't want to get sued so they order them.
You can't deny that this isn't happening and a huge cost.

Otoh, malpractice premiums are ridiculous. OBs routinely pay 6 figures a year in premiums. If tort reform would

I agree that they are most at risk. That said, I have talked to many and almost all of them have been sued for
